Dr. Doris believes that psychotherapy not only treats illness, but can help individuals and couples achieve the highest level of emotional, psychological, and relationship functioning possible. By tailoring treatment to the needs of each person or couple, Dr. Doris is able to offer an approach that will work best for each individual client. Whether you are looking for shorter-term solution focused treatment such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) or more in-depth insight-oriented work, such as Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, the approach will always be adapted to match your unique needs. In addition, the associates that work in this practice are carefully selected based on their expertise and commitment to providing an equally exceptional level of care to all clients. They are either Registered Psychologists or in the process of registering as a Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. Each associate is chosen based on personal and professional qualities that will allow them to provide the highest level of care and expertise possible.
Treatment services are available for a wide range of concerns. Individual psychotherapy typically involves an initial consultation where the client and therapist meet to assess the client’s needs and allows the client to determine whether the psychologist is a good match. After the initial session, clients are able to determine whether they would like to proceed and book follow-up sessions at their discretion. In couple counselling, the initial session usually includes both partners who will have an opportunity to discuss their joint concerns with their therapist. Further sessions are also scheduled at the couple’s discretion but may include an individual session with each partner to allow the psychologist an opportunity to gather information regarding each partner’s relationship history. Dr. Doris also offers executive counselling for individuals in demanding work roles to assist with stress management and to improve functioning in one’s professional and personal life.
Psychological services are available in London as well as St. Thomas Ontario for both individual psychotherapy, psychological assessment, and couples counselling. All associates in the practice are doctoral-level clinical psychologists. In addition to possessing a doctoral degree in clinical psychology, Dr. Doris and her associates are also registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. Many extended health plans require that treatment be provided by a clinical psychologist in order to quality for reimbursement. All services provided by Dr. Doris or any of her associates would qualify under this definition.
